Jennifer Gonzalez, LCSW-S

Co-Founder of AHMHA

Jennifer is a bilingual therapist with a passion for empowering young adults in reaching their full potential in life. In particular, she enjoys working with first generation young adults, like herself, to help them process their generational trauma, identity development, and manage relationships and hardships. Jennifer is proud to serve this population in hopes of being who she needed when she was younger.

Jennifer began her journey as a mental health therapist (LCSW) in 2021, after graduating from the University of Houston in 2017 with a Masters in Social Work. She has a background in advocacy, hospital social work, community outreach, and college based counseling for students. She currently works as a mental health therapist at her own practice, Vida Counseling TX.

Jennifer co-founded AHMHA, after finding herself in need of a community for similar professionals after returning from Houston, TX. Jennifer’s vision for AHMHA is rooted in creating such a community and welcoming members in search of the same.

Monica Cortez, LPC

Co-Founder of AHMHA

Monica is a bilingual therapist with a passion for working with single-event and complex trauma using EMDR; an evidence-based approach that reduces the emotional impact of distressing memories. Monica is proud to be fluent in Spanish and of her Mexican roots.

Monica graduated with a M.A. in Psychology in 2013. She was in education for 7 years; becoming a Certified School Counselor in 2017. She later became a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in 2021 and an independent Licensed Professional Counselor in 2024. She currently serves as a Mental Wellness Specialist for Head Start at Region 16. She also works as a mental health counselor at her own practice, Mind Garden Therapy.

Monica co-founded AHMHA, after finding herself in need of a community of similar professionals, after leaving the education field to enter the mental health field. Monica’s vision for AHMHA is rooted in creating such a community, to welcome members from all backgrounds.
